Trekking is one of the queen outdoor activities in the area surrounding the Martelletto.
In recent weeks Elena and I have dedicated several days to discover more or less difficult routes and with a booty of about 35 km under our soles we can say that we are quite satisfied.
The tracks we prefer are the ring ones, which allow you to see landscapes that are never the same.
Starting from the agriturismo, you are spoiled for choice: there are even four.
Our favorite (about 7 km and a 2 hour walk) is the ring that takes you to the castle of Precicchie, suitable for everyone … young and old.
The walk starts from the farmhouse on a typical white road and then crosses an old cart which flows under the walls of the small castle of Domo.
Here you take a paved road that starts uphill and then softens (near Precicchie) and then slips into an almost virgin forest; only the very last part is on a dirt track … but don’t worry, the roads in these parts are practically free of traffic.
Taking the car and moving, however, the possibilities are almost endless.
We have focused on the areas around Elcito and Serra San Quirico, using an app that we found very useful and very reliable (ViewRanger).
Elcito is one of the gems of this area, a village that has stopped over time within the regional nature reserve of San Vicino and Canfaito.
Path 209 starts from the village and, unrolling itself on 13 km of medium / high difficulty, will take you to look at landscapes as far as the eye can see, roads that seem to end up in the Sibillini Mountains and centuries-old beech woods that will make your souls exult.
We ourselves who are accustomed to these landscapes have been enthusiastic about what we have seen.
The last trekking, in chronological order, that we did is the one that from Serra San Quirico climbs up to the top of Mount Murano (where an iron cross stands, for reference).
Here the view is truly breathtaking, as at 180 degrees it is possible to aim from the north of the Marche coast to the mountains of the Gola della Rossa Park passing through Croatia on clear days.
